Google Ads Important Notice: Time to Update the Links
Google has implemented new privacy-focused policies for Google Ads, directly impacting the use of click trackers. Starting August 28, 2023, only certified click trackers will be allowed, ensuring their responsible use. These changes are particularly significant for affiliate marketing, where click trackers play a critical role.
As you know, Admitad is one of the few networks that has received official Google Ads certification to ensure that our affiliate links are not blocked. Colleagues from Google have updated the link requirements and we have made all the necessary changes in our tool.
What Changes Publishers Need to Make
Re-generate links in the Google Ads tool and update them in your published ads by December 26. If you do not do this, there is a high risk that outdated links will be blocked and you will lose action on them.
To update your current links or generate new ones, follow the guide.
What is Google Click Tracker policy
In August 2023, Google announced updates to its click tracker policy for Google Ads, aiming to enhance protection against potentially harmful SEM (Search Engine Marketing) ads. Starting from August 28, 2023, services using click trackers in their campaigns are required to:
- Use certified click trackers within the Tracking Template feature.
- Specify the advertiser’s domain as a parameter in the tracking setup.
Google introduced the certification process for service providers to establish standards for secure and reliable click tracking in Google Ads. This ensures that only trusted, certified trackers are used in campaigns, protecting advertisers from malicious or deceptive practices and maintaining the integrity of performance marketing.
Being a certified Google Transparent Click Tracker provider means a lot to us. It, of course, underlines our commitment to transparency, quality and good marketing practices.
